Happy or joyful... What’s the difference?
I read something in a devotional of mine that
Really had me reflecting hard.
Are you chasing “happiness” or are you living with internal joy.
Happiness is conditional; someone validated you. The paycheck came. The weather dictates how you feel.
Joy is internal where happy is external.
When something goes wrong, it’s raining, you have to pay a bill... your happiness disappears.
Suddenly you’re annoyed, frustrated, sad. And why?
When i have this body I’ll be happy.
When I move here I’ll be happy.
When i graduate then I’ll be happy.
When i finally find a man to love me THEN I for sure
will be happy.
Question.. did you get to something that you were pursuing and you’re STILL. NOT. HAPPY.
Y’all. Check your source.
Because if your source of happiness is rooted in a boy. Your body. Your money. Food. Others validation... you’ll never thrive. You will be let down. Every single time.
The best way I can interpret it is putting too much into the resource, and nothing into the source.
What happens to resources? They diminish right, they empty, they get low.
The source? Never runs out.
My source? Jesus. An abundance of joy grace and faithfulness.
Last time I checked happiness isn’t a fruit of the spirit, joy can only come from one source.
