Second Standing Ch'i Kung Form: "Supporting Heaven" in the Taoist 8 Silken Forms Series
Near a Stream on the NorthEastern Portion on the island of O'ahu, Hawai'i.
I am wearing red to represent the Heart and and standing in the water which represents the Kidneys. There is a direct connection between Heart and Kidney’s interdependence, and how the two have to communicate with each other in order to be harmonized, as they are the root toward supporting Heaven and Earth.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Theory:
- The Heart houses the Mind and pertains to Fire; the Kidneys store the Essence and pertain to Water. The polarity of Heart and Kidneys is the fundamental polarity between Fire and Water.
- The Fire of the Heart descends to the Kidneys to warm them; the Water of the Kidneys rises to the Heart to nourish its Yin aspect.
- The descending of the Fire of the Heart and the ascending of the Water of the Kidneys keep the fundamental balance between Fire and Water, Yang and Yin, above and below.
Mindful Minute -
Today, take a minute (or more) and think about wants vs. needs. There are times in life when we may feel as if we are living in scarcity. I have found that during these times if I examine closely, I usually realize I have what I need. In the words of one great guru Paramahansa Yogananda, “Prosperity does not mean to always have what you want. You are truly prosperous when you always have what you need,” and in the words of one great poet Mick Jagger, "You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need.” Think about that for a minute today. #meditation#1minutemindfulness#peace
