“This grand show is eternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never dried all at once; a shower is forever falling; vapor is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls.” -John Muir
Fireweed was one of my favorite flowers when I was a kid in British Columbia. Later as a forester, I learned that it’s a pioneer species - a hardy native plant that can recolonize disturbed areas - and that made me like it even more. It was the first plant to grow after the eruption of Mt. St Helens, and it springs up after forest fires and logging.
This is a new piece in my nonprofit series for @conservationorg, which will be released on November 25. 100% of proceeds from this series will be donated to Conservation International. You can learn more about their work at conservation.org.
I created this hybrid #fluidlandscapes style in 2017 to raise funding for nonprofits, and with your help it’s raised $20K so far. I want this series to be my best one yet. What other paintings would you like to see? I love all the quotes and creative ideas you are sending me! You can add more in the link in my stories if you’ve got an idea.
